Would it be better or easier to amend my tax document?

So let say I filled a lil more dependents (3 people) on my taxes that I can't really prove I support them.. So I got audited by the IRS and they asking what I got for claiming head of household back.. But I didn't get any earned income credit back from the dependents, so they ain't asking for that.. So anyway I think it would be better to just take those three of my taxes.. But my question will I owe less or maybe nothing at all if I go to a tax preparer and get my document amended so I can change it to single and take them off? Or should I write a letter to the IRS requesting them to be taking off my taxes.. What do u recommend I do so I can owe less money and maybe none at all
