Conservatives want to amend the Constitution regarding gay marriage?

I am a conservative who will be doing my part to make sure Obama is not re-elected. Gay marriage is not a big issue. The Republicans need to avoid this. Gay marriage does not effect me at all, and most conservatives do not fear it. I think it is a waste of time to amend the constitution over such an issue. In strict terms, a marriage is understood to be between a man and a woman. However, in our society I believe all people should have the right to live a life of their choosing as long as they are not disturbing the rights of others. Conservatives must understood that eventually gays will have the right to marry. This issue will evolve. I am in an interracial marriage for 20 years. I could not have done this 100 years ago. I view gay marriage the same way.
